Pre-paving is the practice of setting the energetic tone for a desired outcome before the experience unfolds. Instead of reacting in the moment, you consciously choose your vibration ahead of time. I like to call it pre-paving, but you might also hear it referred to as visualizing or, in Neville Goddard’s words, imagining your wish fulfilled.
When you pre-pave, you engage the power of intention and imagination. Neuroscience supports this: studies show that visualization activates areas of the brain linked to emotional regulation, decision-making, and even social connection. In short, the brain begins to respond as if the experience is already real—laying the groundwork for it to unfold accordingly.
Think of pre-paving as energetically preparing the road ahead. Instead of drifting through life and hoping things go well, you become the conscious creator of your experiences. You proactively shape how you want to feel, what you want to experience, and how you'd like events to unfold.
Don’t wait to see how things unfold—set the tone in advance. Before stepping into a meeting, starting your day, or facing a new experience, take a moment to tune into the outcome you desire. Visualize it clearly. Engage all your senses:
Let yourself emotionally align with that future moment as if it’s already happening. This alignment sends a powerful signal to both your subconscious mind and the Universe: this is the reality I am choosing.
One of my most powerful pre-paving experiences happened many years ago, when I was searching for a job. I had just finished an interview at a Fortune 500 company and decided to take a walk around the campus. As I strolled through the beautiful surroundings, I allowed myself to really imagine what it would be like to work there.
I saw myself walking through those same paths every morning, connecting with the wonderful people I had just met. I felt what it would be like to do work I enjoyed, earn a great salary, and be truly valued and respected for my contributions.
That emotional alignment was so strong, so real, it felt inevitable.
Within a week, I received a call—and by the end of the month, I had started the job. It became a 25-year career that I will always cherish, and I still look back on that moment as a powerful reminder of what pre-paving can do.
Here's a pre-paving script you can use anytime you want to align with a desired outcome. It’s written in a calming, step-by-step tone—perfect for a journal prompt, daily practice, or quiet meditation.
Take a deep breath. Gently close your eyes if you’re comfortable, and begin to turn your attention inward.
Step 1: Choose a Situation
Think of something coming up—a meeting, a trip, a conversation, a creative project, or even just your day ahead.
Gently bring it to mind without any stress or pressure. You are simply preparing the energetic space.
Step 2: Set Your Intention
Ask yourself: How do I want this to unfold?
What is the best-case scenario, not just in what happens—but in how you feel?
Maybe it’s ease, joy, clarity, success, connection, fun, or peace. Choose your energetic outcome.
Step 3: Visualize
Now imagine yourself stepping into that moment. See it happening just the way you desire—or even better.
Step 4: Feel It Fully
Let yourself feel what it's like to be there—already living the experience.
Feel the satisfaction. The joy. The calm.
Let your body soften and settle into the “knowing” that it’s already yours.
Step 5: Seal It with Gratitude
Take a moment to thank the Universe, your higher self, or whatever you connect to spiritually.
Say quietly or aloud:
“Thank you. It is already done.”
“I am ready. I am open. I am grateful.”
Take a deep breath. Smile. Open your eyes when you’re ready—and carry that energy with you.
